Highlights are stories the account chose to keep, so they’re around long after the usual 24 hours.
A highlight is a story that was kept
Stories expire after a day. A highlight is one the owner decided to save, and saving it stops the clock. It then sits in a labeled circle under the bio until they take it down.
That makes highlights the closest thing a public profile has to an archive. An account that posts stories rarely can still have a long row of them going back years.
The covers and names are chosen, not automatic
Instagram lets the owner pick each highlight’s cover image and title, so the labels are whatever they decided: a place, a trip, a product line, or a single word that means nothing to anyone else.
WHISPERLOOK shows them as they were set. Open one and the frames inside play in order, oldest first, the way the owner arranged them.
When highlights are missing or empty
Plenty of accounts have none at all. Saving a story is optional, and a profile with an empty row simply never used the feature, which is not a fault in the profile or the viewer.
A highlight can also shrink. Owners remove individual frames, and they can delete a whole highlight at once, which takes it off the profile for everyone immediately.

Why did a story disappear?
Stories are only available while they’re live on the public profile, usually 24 hours. Highlights are the stories an account chose to keep, so those stay until the account removes them.
Does WHISPERLOOK work with private accounts?
No. WHISPERLOOK only supports public profiles and does not bypass privacy settings. A private account shows up as exactly that.
Do I need an Instagram account?
No Instagram login is required for supported public content. You type a username, WHISPERLOOK looks.
Is WHISPERLOOK free?
Yes. WHISPERLOOK is supported by advertising so the basic viewer can stay free.
