How WHISPERLOOK handles other people’s content, and how to ask for something to be removed.
Last updated: September 6, 2026
Where the content comes from
WHISPERLOOK displays publicly available content from Instagram. It reaches you through a content provider that fetches public material, and it is shown as it comes. WHISPERLOOK does not maintain its own library of user photos or videos. Results are held in a short-lived cache for a few minutes so the viewer stays fast. Beyond that, nothing is stored.
The people who posted the content own it. WHISPERLOOK claims no rights in anything it shows.
The fastest way to remove something
Because everything shown here comes from Instagram, the original lives there. If you remove a post, story or reel on Instagram, or switch your account to private, it disappears from WHISPERLOOK as soon as the short cache expires, along with every other service that reads public content. That is the quickest and most complete fix, and it does not need us to be involved.
How to send a removal request
If you own the copyright in something shown through WHISPERLOOK, or are authorized to act for the owner, and you believe it is being shown without permission, send us a notice. To act on it, we need:
- Identification of the work you say is infringed.
- The WHISPERLOOK address where it appears, precisely enough for us to find it. A username and a description of the item is usually enough.
- Your contact information: name, email address, and postal address if you have one.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, their agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Send notices through the form on the contact page, topic “Copyright or removal request”. We act on valid notices promptly. We may ask for more information if a notice is incomplete, and we may pass a notice along to the person who posted the content.
Counter-notices
If content you posted was removed from WHISPERLOOK because of a notice and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice with the same identifying details, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the removal was in error, your contact information and your signature.
Trademarks
Instagram and other names that appear on WHISPERLOOK belong to their owners. They are used only to describe what the service works with. WHISPERLOOK is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta.
